As part of the creative team:
Illustrated props that captured the look and feel of an inked comic book. The actors used the props I designed during live performances to interact between the actors and the animated stage.
  • Drew a range of backgrounds that included an inside of an apartment, a men’s clothing store, and a back alley. These drawings were rendered in a specific art style (early 1940’s) as to create the feeling of real life derived from a comic book. The backgrounds were illustrated with a rough/sketch feel to capture the early stages of a sequential panel of a comic book. To ensure that every scene captured the true essence of the play I paid particular attention to the research material, and script. In some instants, I was given free reign to change and reinterpret scenes, as some concepts did not transfer well in the production stage.
  • Collaborated with the director on various concepts for the program guide. In order to capture the entire crew in their daily work routine, I used a lay- out of how the show went from pen on paper to stage, depicting each crew member starting with the director leading to the stage crew. It was important for me to depict each member completing their task in order to make the show possible.
